What have you been wearing on stage?

I’ve mostly been wearing the suit that appears on the [album cover](https://alanpalomo.lnk.to/world-of-hassle). It’s a vintage [Claude Montana](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Claude_Montana) 2 piece with leather Lapels and belt loops. I’m obsessed with Montana at the moment. He helped invent the vernacular of the 80s with his big silhouettes and colorful runway looks.

Anything new you've been liking?

As far as new stuff goes, I’m pairing it with a black brick [Celine](https://www.celine.com/) shirt that’s a little bit of a throwback to the last album’s visual motif. The ‘fragile’ tie is [Yohji Yamamoto](https://theshopyohjiyamamoto.com/). Ties in general are essential to me. I have a small collection of [Memphis Milano](https://www.instagram.com/memphis_milano/) ones that are totally absurd! I’ve never come across anything even remotely like them elsewhere.

Do you collaborate with anyone? A stylist? A friend?

*alan* 
My taste tends to be a little niche so employing someone to source the pieces I’d ideally like to wear is a little out of my budget range. I do however majorly enjoy styling myself! It’s fun to toy around with looks when building the lore around an album. I wouldn’t exactly call it costuming but the character I’m attempting to look like is really just some heightened version of myself and what I’m into at the moment both musically and visually.

Do you **make** any special pieces?

Not yet although I have been talking about this with a designer friend. Would love to make a bespoke suit from scratch!

Where do you *find* stage clothes? Any fav shops?

*alan*
Honestly a lot of it is online. I’ve had certain brands and items on [ebay](https://www.ebay.com/) for going on a decade. However, there are some great cities for vintage shopping that I try to hit on the road. Montreal and Tokyo come to mind. Los Angeles too though. Specifically, there’s a spot in my neighborhood called [Soft Humans](https://www.instagram.com/softhumansshop). The owner has exceptional taste. He sources a lot of vintage [Issey Miyake](https://us-store.isseymiyake.com/) and just NEXT LEVEL band/movie shirts.

Where does your sense of style come from? Any special sources of inspiration?

*alan*
A lot of it tends to come from cinema. The colors. The silhouette. The fit. Etc. Example: one of the best things I watched during the pandemic was [Peter Greenaway](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Greenaway)’s [The Cook, The Thief, His Wife, and Her Lover](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Cook,_the_Thief,_His_Wife_%26_Her_Lover). I remember noticing [Jean Paul Gaultier](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jean_Paul_Gaultier)’s name in the opening credits. You could see a lot of the playful accessorizing he was doing in his own work really coming out through the thief’s various henchmen. Lots of great bolo ties and jewelry with sleazy red suits. Although for this record, a lot of the look inspo came from the Yohji Yamamoto styled [Takeshi Kitano](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Takeshi_Kitano) films of the 90s. He tends to dress the Yakuza in these oversized pinstripe suits with floral shirts. I find it both funny and slick. Plus, Japanese suits tend to fit me with little to no alteration needed. Shortking problems!
